Auto Avia Design’s BK117 right hand rescue hoist improves the pilot’s visibility of the linesman and patient during hoisting operations.
The tripod hoist also offers a substantially reduced installation weight and lower drag penalty when compared to the OEM hoist installation.
Reliability
At least 15 SAR aircraft have been fitted with the right hand rescue hoist. Operators have reported exceptional reliability from the installations, which have been in operation since 1995. An extended replacement period has recently been approved for the rod end bearings based on service life performance.
Flexibility
The winch and tripod assembly can be easily removed via three quick-disconnect hard points and three quick-disconnect electrical fittings for extended periods of non-hoisting operation. The design permits a variety of power converter locations to accommodate operator requirements.
Hoist Options
Tripod variants for several models of 600 lb hoist have been developed, these include Lucas Aerospace Model 42325, Western Gear 42154R1, Breeze Eastern Model HS-20200-501 and Air-Equipment Model 76375. All tripod variants include an integral rappelling point.
Modification of the tripod hoist for LHS installation permits installation on BK117 A-4 and B-1 models.
