Geosurvey

Auto Avia Design has developed numerous modifications for clients in the geosurvey industry. Some examples include:

Magnetometer booms – Hughes 500

Wing tip geosurvey pods – PAC FU24

The geosurvey pods posed special design constraints as no conductive components could be used in its construction. Thus the pods employed special composite and plastic fasteners. No metallic or conductive parts are used outboard of wing-tip.
Replacement fibreglass ailerons are installed to significantly reduce electromagnetic interference. Ailerons naturally oscillate in flight, thus Aluminium alloy ailerons generate eddy currents in the presence of a magnetic field, which interferes with highly sensitive geosurvey equipment.
